What do you like about his art work? His Geometry?, His colors?, His intricate square or circle connecting to one another? His space , neat and precise? The culture of a country appreciate art in different way? I am asking this because I notice that his one-man show where all in Europe and in a few State in America?
Eugenio Carmi studied in Torino, under the guidance of Felice Castrati. His lengthy experience in graphic arts matured in the 1950’s when he was best known for his pictorial research, inspired with a rigorous understanding of geometric structure, and with his attentive analysis in perception of the chromatic values. He exhibited in art galleries and museums in Europe and the United States. He defined himself as a “fabbricante di immagini”. Besides painting, he designed, televised and wrote books. His particularly ingenious life took place according to the timeline below.
He participated in the Biennale di Venezia in 1966. In 1967, he presented electronic work in the “Supersund” exhibit in Lund, Sweden, and in 1968 he presented the “Carm-o-matic” in the “Cybernetic Serendipity” at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London.
In 1973, Carmi began a program for RISD, and he taught seminars in visual art at The Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. He was also teaching at the Academy of Macerata when he published three volumes in Italy (Bompiani), and other countries. The French Minister of National Education chose his books for the schools and libraries of France.
The most important exhibitions of his art work were in the Comune di Milano in 1990; in 1991 at the Museo Italo Americano, San Francisco; and in 1992 in Budapest, at the Palazzo Reale. He was awarded important prizes at the International Biennale of Graphic Design.

In 1996, the Umberto Eco e Duncan Macmillan published “Eugenio Carmi”
His autobiographic book, entitled “CARMI”, was first presented at the Triennale of Milano.
He exhibited in Luxemburg, Pisa, Messina, Firenze, and Rome by invitation of the President Luciano Violante.
In September of 2000, his art was represented at a retrospective exhibit in the Museo Diocesano di Barcellona which was patronized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, members of the European Parliament and the Paliament of Catalogna.
Sub sequentially, Luciano Caramel and Umberto Eco wrote the book entitled “Eugenie Carmi” with editions in Italian and Spanish.
In January 2001, Eugenio Carmi was nominated to the Accademia di San Luca (one of the oldest and most prestigious of Academies).
From September-October, 2001 his art was at the Cappella di San Carlo Borromeo in Praga, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy promoted a retrospective exhibit of Eugenio Carmi‘s
Catalogo dell’Arte Moderna Italiana produced by Giorgio Mondadori & Associati, has published 20 volumes from 1963 to 1985.

Mauro Mancia once wrote a long and descriptive letter to Carmi in which he described Carmi’s art in the following fashion:
“You on the other hand, design, measure, use of contrast in colors, make circles and long interminable rectangles. This is your point: Geometry. Geometry and colors are your signal and your code which transfers all of you. You make a colored circle, and more small circles that unite one to another.”
Mancia ended the letter with his thoughts about Carmi:
“Your pictures are here, they imperatively suggest emotions, evoke sentiments.”
